The second half of the program will feature a celebration and tour of Quinsigamond Community College’s new Fab Lab which has the distinction of being the only community college in the state to open and operate a lab which will feature access by the community.

Tara King, Sales Manager
Tara will present an overview of United Lens's innovations in optics. The company was founded in 1916 and has been under the same continuous family ownership for the past century.They maintain current prominence in the industry as a producer of thin film coated, polished, and precision machined optics.
Jacob Longacre, Quinsigamond Community Photonics Professor
Jacob will provide a historical perspective which began in Southbridge, has historical connections to the optics industry, and is experiencing growth in multiple photonics technologies. He is working with Southbridge companies, such as IPG Photonics Corporation, which builds lasers for manufacturing, and Incom, a fiber optics company that works in the scientific, medical and defense industries. Professor Longacre spent many years in the public and private sector as an Electrical and Design Engineer.
