WORCESTER, Massachusetts (April 5, 2018) –– The Venture Forum (TVF), a not-for-profit community for entrepreneurs, provides a foundation for learning and connecting with resources essential to launching and growing successful businesses. TVF will hold its 12th annual ‘5-Minute Pitch’ contest on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Rubin Campus Center.
Eight finalists have been chosen from over 30 applicants to compete for the judges’ 1st and 2nd place selections, the ‘Audience Choice’ award, and a ‘Showcase’ winner. Additionally, the eight finalists will be competing for cash prizes, training, and coaching sessions.
The contest will be judged by four venture capitalists: Jeffrey Arnold, resident of Arnold Strategies, LLC, and Boston Harbor Angels, Charlie Hipwood, Vice President of Mass Ventures, Sheila Narayan, Managing Director and the Leadership Chair for Golden Seeds Boston Chapter, and Vivek Soni, Managing Director at TiE Boston Angels Group.
"The Pitch Contest has been incredibly powerful in giving startups the outlet that they need to advance their business to the next level," said Ron Fraser, Chair of The Venture Forum.
Over the past two years, over 225 investors, start-ups and service-providers have attended each of the past two years respectively. In the last four years, two 5-Minute Pitch CEOs have been chosen by Forbes Magazine as their "30 Under 30" award recipients, one of this year’s finalists was also chosen.
